Have you read Who Moved My Cheese? by
by Dr Spencer Johnson?

When researching reviews of favourite books I came across reviews by Tom Butler-Bowdon. Tom is the author of the bestselling 50 Classics series. The concept is based on the idea that every subject or genre will contain at least 50 books that encapsulate its knowledge and wisdom. I really like this idea and his mission of “more people knowing more”.

Who Move My Cheese

Here’s a snippet of Tom’s review of Who Moved My Cheese? a book that has inspired profound and positive change for me.

‘A group of old school friends is gathered for dinner and the topic of conversation gets on to change – in career, relationships and family life. One of those present contends that change no longer bothers him after having heard ‘a funny little story’ called Who Moved My Cheese? In this artful way, Spencer Johnson introduces the reader to his fable on how to cope positively with change’.

Here are 5 things I learned from Who Moved My Cheese

who moved my cheese
  • When you change what you believe; you change what you do
  • Maybe, instead of changing jobs, I should change the way I am doing my job. I’d probably have a better position by now if I did.
  • Collective character is vital to success. Focus on getting the culture right: the results will follow.
  • Performance = Capability + Behaviour
  • A culture of asking and re-asking fundamental questions cuts away unhelpful beliefs in order to achieve clarity of execution. Humility allows us to ask a simple question: how can we do this better?
